Canada’s leading contemporary outdoor and online art fair

TOAF will take place July 12 – 14, 2024.

Day 8 of #TOAF59 – We announce our award winners today!

Sold on Day 7: Aneela Davis from Toronto Potters, 'EXUVIA', 2010, ceramics

Dear Friend of TOAF,

Today is an exciting day for artists of TOAF. We will be announcing this year’s outstanding artists who have been carefully selected by an exceptional roster of judges!

Our pandemic-adapted award ceremony today will be on Instagram Live at 3:30pm. Our artists will be receiving $20,000 in cash and in-kind awards. Join us and meet the artists!

As you know, our student showcase is one of the well-known treasures of TOAF that brings loyal visitors back year after year to discover new talents and fresh perspectives. Many students have launched their careers with us at Nathan Phillips Square and have honed their creative entrepreneurial skills just as they would in any accelerator initiative. Once again, thanks to our partnership with OCAD U Career Launchers and Sheridan College we are presenting an exceptional showcase of this year’s emerging artists in our Student Zone

For today's curated collections, we bring you a selection of student works by Executive and Artistic Director of OCAD U Galleries, Francisco Alvarez. We are also extremely proud to have the legendary artist, curator, critic, and educator, Robert Houle share his curated collection of figurative pieces.

Sold on Day 7: Andrew Cheddie Sookrah, 'Raven Wings Over' Gros Morne, 2020, acrylic on wood panel

Curated Collection: Robert Houle

The legendary Robert Houle has played a pivotal role in bridging the gap between contemporary Indigenous art and the Canadian art scene. As an artist, curator, writer, educator, and critic, he has created change in the art world, initiating critical discussions about the history and representation of Indigenous peoples. We are honoured to have him curate his favourite figurative works in this year's fair.

Curated Collection: Francisco Alvarez

Francisco Alvarez has been Executive and Artistic Director of Galleries at OCAD University since 2016. In this role, he serves as Director of Onsite Gallery and seven other galleries across the campus. For this year's online edition of TOAF, we've asked Francisco to share his favourite student works.
