As a child, the world seemed so large. Any space can be filled with just a little bit of imagination. “Suburbia in the Air” is a construction of nostalgia depicting the feeling of my childhood in the suburbs. Growing up, my backyard and the Oakville trails served as an escape. A fantasy land where my sister and I could endlessly play with our creativity. Moving to the West End of Toronto, this area reminds me of home. Abundant nature, brick houses, and toys on the lawn, all make me nostalgic for a life I will never live again. Although sadden with this grief, I also felt inspired to see the world with playfulness again.
It is impossible, but I want to go back to that time. I miss the Suburbia in the Air. But that is okay. I will live on with my childhood whispering to me through the wind.
