“Castles in the Air” - to create dreams or hopes that are impossible. A daydream or fantasy.
As a child, the world seemed so large. Any space can be filled with just a little bit of imagination. "Suburbia in the Air" is a construction of nostalgia depicting my childhood in the suburbs. Growing up, the ravine behind my house served as an escape. A fantasy land where my sister and I could endlessly play with our creativity. Moving to the West End of Toronto, this area reminds me of home. Brick houses, abundant nature, and toys on the lawn, all make me nostalgic for a life I will never live again.
It is impossible, but I want to go back to that time. I miss the Suburbia in the Air.
