Tamara Soto

Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 49
Tamara Soto is a Bolivian - Canadian artist. She approaches painting as a meditative form of expression where experiences and emotions are reflected on the surface—working intuitively and handling the paint free and expressive, and finding balance through the addition and subtraction of layers of paint.
Painting is a conversation, a dialogue between the elements of the paint and the subconscious mind creating an image that captures the essence of the moment.
She is inspired by a distant horizon, a mystical place where the eyes can rest and imagine being there or contemplate.

During Covid, her practice extended to drawing as an immediate response to untangle her thoughts, as a therapy to escape the uncertain future. This group of works brings to life abstract figures, compositions of lines, and detailed patterns.
