Informally trained in jewellery, mostly in the UK, the convergence of textiles and goldsmithing are where my passions have settled as an artist. My current series is the culmination of my interests in goldsmithing, textiles, and immunology (the topic of my PhD). My work examines the duality of the human immune system; the positive defense aspect and the darker, self-consuming aspect. I express this through the use of different finishes and colours, reflecting that although these cells defend the body, sometimes they turn against the self and become the destroyers. The amorphous and organic forms are representative of the heterogeneity and dynamism of the immune system, as well as the responses that they carry out in infection and disease. Booth 292
