Peter Barelkowski

Toronto
Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 124
My art education began with an MA from the Poznan University and continued at Goldsmith College, Ontario College of Art in Toronto (1985 – 1988) and less formally - in London, England ( Camden Arts Centre ) and Norway, where I was street performing for tourists during the late 70's.
In 2008 I became a member of the Ontario Society of Artists and I sat on the OSA Executive Council till 2012 . I joined the Propeller Art Gallery, a non-profit artist-run centre in 2008.

I am fascinated about human conditions. Through my work I explore the human experience of loneliness and isolation - creating a paradox between joyful colours and darker subject matter. My artistic work has consistently been an exploration of the past, strongly rooted in history. Working with a minimalistic approach, I leave space for viewers to explore and wander through simple visual trails.

My paintings are in private collections in Europe, USA, Korea and Canada.
