Nika Belianina
Nika Belianina is a fine art photographer and a filmmaker specializing in magical realism. Her exhibition history spans over 30 shows in Belgium, Canada, Peru, and the USA. She's a juror and a recipient of international artist residencies as well as of the OAC and CAC grants. Most recently, she had a solo exhibition at the Abbozzo Gallery in Toronto (May '24). She runs Curious Captures Photo Studio in the city's East End.
Nika Belianina’s poetic photographs capture not just the outer appearances of things, but their inner emotional significance. She loves exploring themes of escapism and longing, wrapping them in the mystery of magical realism. Nika is genuinely inspired and often works with nature, using movement, mirroring and various in-camera techniques. By reimagining existing organic forms, she encourages contemplation on our relationship with the environment, urging a deeper awareness of the beauty, resilience, and vulnerability of our planet. The resulting images often have a painterly feel to them. For her, photography is not just a means of self-expression; it is a call to pause, reflect, and let imagination take you on a journey far and beyond.
