Marjan Kaviani is an artist based in the Toronto and Guelph area. She works with a variety of mediums, but mainly uses acrylic, oils, ink and charcoal. She graduated from the Claude Watson Arts Program at Earl Haig Secondary School and now attends the University of Guelph and is completing her double major in Studio Art and Psychology.

Kaviani’s current practice involves referencing photographs of her family through a second lens, one that is catered with feelings of discomfort and longing. She seeks to replicate the feeling of certain moments in life where numerous discrepancies in time, logic and space coalesce creating existential-like moments.

In 2021, she has won awards such as the Art in the Bullring Honorarium for her piece, Time is Ticking, and 1st place in the Junior Juried Art Show for her piece, In Solemn Silence, at the University of Guelph. Her most recent series, “In Solemn Silence” can be seen at Homer Watson House and Gallery in Kitchener, until August 7th.
