Julie Desmarais

Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 132
For the past 20 years, I have devoted my practice depicting nature observed while traveling within Canada in search of places little or not affected by the human presence. I am blown away by the beauty and the immensity of the landscapes that surrounds us and I try to capture the essence of that emotion when painting a chosen scenery. I paint realistic landscape with oil on very large scale canvases. I devote a great deal of my attention to fine details. Painting is my passion.
Born in the Laurentians (QC), Julie Desmarais has been living and working in Montreal for the past 20 years. In 1999, she obtained a B.F.A from UdM. In 2004, she wins the contest "Jeunes artistes des Laurentides", granting her a scholarship and a solo exhibit at the Museum of contemporary art of the Laurentians. Since then, she has participated in many contemporary art fairs in Canada and in the US. Her oil paintings are part of national and international private and public collections.
