Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 152-153
I was born in Quebec in 1973, and live and work in Montreal. I explore different techniques such as laser cutting, engraving, screen printing and photography to give birth to wall steel sculptures. I am interested in the tension between the robustness of the material and deep lightness created by the openings. This dichotomy constitutes the strength of my tone-on-tone creations. I explore the plastic and physical properties of steel as well as its links with geology, geography and industry.Booth 152-153
Following the series entitled Continents (2008–14), Islands and Lakes (2014–22), my recent work of the Bridges series asserts itself in figuration by revealing structures and industrial sites emblematic of the historical use of steel in the fields of architecture and engineering. Through this series, I bring together the plastic arts and the techniques of industrial creation in strong works marked by their obviousness.
