Hugo Cantin
Montreal
Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 172
Hugo Cantin is a Montreal-based artist, designer and film collector. Inspired by mid-century art movements and pop culture, Cantin plays with vintage imagery and graphics, lines and stripes, architecture plans and sketches. He creates linear-patterned collages using vintage film stock. Although his lightboxes distinguish themselves as decorative objects of taste and style, it is Hugo’s sensitive, finely-tuned rendering of time on a flat surface that lends his works their luminosity and depth.
