Esther Slevinsky

City
Waterloo
Booth
Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 289

Esther Slevinsky's current work focuses on domestic still life as a way to harmonize her career and role as MOM. Themes include domestic clutter, the feeling of home, figurative paintings of friends and family, and the culinary mess of a short order cook. Her recent experience with cancer has impressed a sense of urgency in her work and inspires exploration of how point of view can create a feeling of intimacy or warped sense of reality.

Esther is an acrylic painter based in Waterloo, Ontario. In 2006, she graduated from ACAD (Alberta University for the Arts) with a BDes in Graphic Design and Illustration. She worked as a mural artist on commercial and residential projects for almost two decades before transitioning to painting on canvas in 2018. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions throughout Ontario, including her solo show entitled Homebody at the Cambridge Centre for the Arts in March 2020. Esther's installation piece 'Chips and Cancer' is part of the CAFKA.23 Biennial in Waterloo Region.
