My watercolours are inspired by my encounters with birds. For the past two and a half years I have been nomadic, living in different rural areas within Canada while working full-time as an artist. These paintings emerged from time spent in Newfoundland for two artist residencies, and while overwintering in the Gaspésie. During my explorations of the countryside in each region, one of my great joys was learning about the birds I was sharing space with and watching their behaviours. These moments were the impetus for creating detailed and saturated watercolours - combining birds with snack foods that are loved within each region and with local landscapes. I have been a practicing artist for over 25 years, showing across Canada and internationally.
