"Sea shells are homes: places of refuge. They have been used for jewellery for at least 150,000 years. Inspired by prehistoric jewellery and by visits to my home province on the east coast, these sculptural "shell" amulets are reflections on the concept of home, contemporary displacement, and safe havens. I create the work by hand and weave the curvilinear elements together in a spiral creating a visual sense of movement - a technique derived from other coiled and woven structures." Questions?
