Anu Kalra

As an artist, Anu Kalra is deeply inspired by the rich history and tradition of Indian miniature painting. She strives to honor this art form while exploring new ways to interpret its techniques and motifs. Her work is characterized by intricate details, vibrant colors, and a focus on storytelling. She uses a variety of materials and techniques, including acrylic paints, gouache, gold leaf, and fine brushes, to create works that are both visually appealing and meaningful. Through her art, she hopes to evoke a sense of wonder and curiosity in the viewer, as well as a connection to the cultural heritage that inspired it. She wishes her paintings invite the viewer to step into a world that is both familiar and exotic, ancient and modern with a “Then and Now” twist. Anu Kalra has a BFA in Graphic Design from The College of Art, Delhi, India and studied at George Brown College. She worked as a graphic designer and Art Director for Discovery Magazine. She has held solo exhibitions and Participated in TOAF and the Artist network, Richmond Hill Studio Tours and Art Fairs.
