Alexis Kostuk
Toronto
Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 229
Alexis Kostuk’s current work as a goldsmith is shaped by her experience with her family’s foundry business which produces cast iron. A focus of this material has led to years of sketching ironwork producing distinct repeating shapes and patterns. Each piece starts as separate components and comes together with a purposeful awareness of composition and how the piece will be worn. Booth 229
Alexis works as the manager in the cooperative studio Jewel Envy while maintaining her own business under the name Glaciale Goldsmith. In January of 2007 she returned to Toronto after attending a one-year intensive jewellery course at Instituto Europeo di Design in Milan, Italy. She became interested in jewellery while attending Ontario College of Art and Design.
She is continually influenced by how people attach memories to objects and trying to objectify memories. Find out more by visiting her branded website: www.glacialegoldsmith.com
