Two Tui's and the Kowhai Teacup

Saskia Wassing

This piece is inspired by the NZ Tui, a beautiful bird with a distinctive feathery plume on its neck, often seen flying around as you walk in the bush. Here, their natural habitat is reimagined as the birds nest within a teacup covered in their favourite Kowhai flowers.
The white linen ground is embroidered freely with thread using hand stitches and a basic domestic sewing machine as my drawing tool. Framed and ready to hang. Free delivery in the GTA.
