Fragile IV

Sabine Wecker

Fragile IV is a single piece, made of stoneware and porcelain and together fired to cone 10.
The work explores the mother as a space holder while pointing to fragility, identity and balance. The preciousness and fragility of the piece is achieved by little round seeds worked into the clay which then unpredictably explode during the firing process. The grounding on a rock talks to a nurturing stability yet in contrary a balance as not to fall off.
