Nan Sidler has explored a variety of mediums over the years, but watercolour continues to be her favourite. The inherent fluidity and transparency of watercolour lend itself to the reflective qualities of water and atmospheric effects that are often found in her work. The beauty and fragility of the natural environment are the inspiration for her watercolour landscapes. Canoes are often featured, being the perfect vehicles of entry into the wilderness. Her plein air sketches and photos become important references for paintings done later in her studio. Nan views art as a dialogue between the artist and viewer. Her goal as an artist is to make an emotional connection with the viewer, to offer new ways of seeing. Nan's work has been featured in local and international magazines, and her canoe route giclees are available at the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough. Nan would be pleased to connect with you through her email, [email protected], or via nansidler on Instagram.
