Lori Ryerson

Toronto
I'm an opportunistic photographer; my compositions are usually the result of serendipity. I keep my eyes and mind open, watching for just the right alignment of things that speak to me. I look for little mysteries in the mundane, waiting for the narratives to reveal themselves. (You can listen to these stories on my website, "Back in a Flash" tab.)

In the Before Times, my art practise was built around my ability to travel to places that intrigue me. In this new COVID world, I am forced to wander and interpret a much closer-to-home landscape. Thankfully, Mother Nature is a perpetual muse, so I am never without subject matter (banner/profile images also for purchase). I have been experimenting with intimate landscapes, and abstract interpretations of nature, using intentional camera movement and multiple exposures.

In an increasingly noisy world, with days filled by a myriad of tiny squares of electronic humans, my photography gives the viewers a chance to listen to the silence.
