La Guilde

Founded in 1906, La Guilde (historically: Canadian Guild of Crafts) is a non-profit organization that aims to preserve and promote Indigenous art and Fine Crafts from Canada. La Guilde's mission has three components: (1) support contemporary artists and ensure the viability of their artistic practice; (2) highlight their work with our audiences to raise awareness, openness, and development of knowledge regarding these practices; and (3) preserve and develop the permanent collection of Inuit art, First Nations art and Crafts for educational purposes.

For our first-ever participation at TOAF, we wished to present the innovative works from a few of La Guilde’s artists working in diverse mediums. The selected artists use colours and textures in their own way through their respective mediums (glass, paper, silver, wood, etc.).

Featured artists: Lizz Aston, Maryse Chartrand, Taygan Crapo, Mary Lynn Podiluk, Meky Ottawa, Julia Reimer, Shay Salehi, Emma Senft, and Magali Thibault-Gobeil.
