The Paintbrush Carrier

Keitha Keeshig-Tobias

This piece is commentary on the responsibility I have as an Indigenous Matriarchal Artist/Activist. I carry my Paintbrushes with the respect, obligation and duty as one would a Sacred Pipe or Eagle Feather. She is clad in Power Pink & holding the paintbrush as an arrow for defense against racism, for sustenance, for survival, for affixing inspirational images to walls and taking measurement of perspective/proportion.
