Jan Phelan

Being an artist has been a very interesting lifestyle for which I am ever grateful. I have had the joy and privilege of meeting so many accomplished people - the Chatelaine and Governor General of Canada, jazz musician Oscar Peterson, Farley Mowat and so many others.

Entering shows and competitions has opened many doors for me. Winning the national competition the Perfect Setting to create table settings for the Governor General was a high point in my pottery life. The ensuing exhibition travelled from coast to coast. England's Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was presented a piece of mine as a diplomatic gift by Ontario Premier David Peterson. Many political and corporate gifts followed.

Other shows have been the Korean International Craft Biennale, Parsons School of Design Gallery in New York City, the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and many others including Corporate Gifts and Commissions.

I do all the work myself from making the clay to firing the 22k gold onto each piece.
