Jamie MacLean

Toronto
Forsaking a promising art career in high school, I chose math, sciences and engineering as a career for 30+ years. Embarking on self-employment as a consultant I took a seminar series about operating an independent business. The facilitator advocated blue sky thinking - “If not now, when?”

In 2004, I picked up an out-of-town project and started painting in the hotel room at night. By the end, I thought “I could do this” and became a full-time artist.
Through workshops I honed my focus and since then have participated in 100+ juried art shows, fairs and gallery events.

With all the changes over the last 16 months I have focused a little more on what is local and to me that is the Don Valley. Our walks on the hillside trails are a great resource of dynamic landscapes, fresh air, energy and colour.  This translates into paintings of big colours, texture and contrast.

My work can be found in personal and corporate art collections across North America, Australia and Europe.
