Heather Munsie

When I am outdoors, I delight in discovering visual details found while deeply observing a scene. I build a visual memory by walking often, painting outdoors, and taking photos. I translate the inspiration I feel outside onto the canvas to create unique compositions that capture the natural and complex atmosphere of Ontario’s landscape. I primarily work with oil paints as I love to let the colours blend on the canvas.

Born in 1986, I grew up in Calgary and worked as a geologist until 2017, after which I transitioned to painting full-time. I currently reside in Toronto and my body of work reflects Ontario’s diverse beauty, including scenes from Algonquin Park, the Great Lakes and Toronto’s urban parks.
