Florence Chik-Lau is a painter, ceramic animal sculptor, designer and a graduate of the Ontario College of Art. Her nature inspired, lyrical acrylic paintings are both influenced and informed by her close proximity to the bodies of water near Prince Edward County where she has lived for over twenty five years. Her atmospheric waterscapes depict the ethereal quality of the atmosphere and the many moods of water. They hover between abstraction and reality, evoking emotional responses and deep reflections.

Using unconventional tools and techniques, Florence meticulously builds up the surface of her canvases layer by layer with paper, acrylics and solid pigment sticks. What appears simple at first glance is intricate with delightful details on close examination. Florence has exhibited her work at the McMichael fall art sale, the Art in the County and art venues around Prince Edward County.
