SarniaElyssa White, the award winning oil painter, began her career in the arts at the young age of eleven. Embraced in the fields of illustration, calligraphy, design, and advertising she began to refine her talents. She studied various techniques and designs through artists such as Monet, Degas and Richard Phillips. This helped to cultivate her singular yet international style. Through her life she lived and worked in different cities across Canada, but now calls Toronto home. Even when she started with portrait study back in 2010, she always matched her meticulousness with curiosity. Her contemporary realism morphed, taking on the personality of the artist, herself. The soft strokes, pulling subtle colour from the void, gives the impression of a dream. It became a classical technique with personal flare. Embracing femininity not only in style but in subject, Elyssa hopes to draw attention to female empowerment.
