Diego de la Rosa

Toronto
Diego de la Rosa is a Venezuelan artist whose work explores the cultural impact of the social crisis in his native country, and relies on symbolism to explore the ideas and sentiments born from this reality. His process involves the collection of source imagery that is then composed into classically painted narratives full of imaginative elements.

This juxtaposition of the real and the fantastical serves to illustrate both the cultural notions surrounding the crisis and the critical theories which he employs to analyze the perspectives at hand.

Through his paintings, De la Rosa creates universal stories of social struggle, resilience and faith to evoke empathy in societies distant from his own.

*De la Rosa is excited to talk about the stories behind his work with anyone. Feel free to connect with him via Instagram, Facebook or email.

*Live videos on Instagram will be hosted by De la Rosa between July 2-11, in which he will explore each painting in detail.
