Amanda Arcuri

In my artistic practice I explore notions of death and redemption by photographing flora that has become appropriated by humans for unnatural purposes. Using a combination of long exposures, stained glass filters, and an added element of fire, these seemingly mundane objects are a riff on the classic still life. In my photographs, the flame acts as a metaphor for transformation and upheaval while the light from the stained glass illuminates the floral arrangements to contemplate transcendence.
