EXUVIA by Aneela Dias-D'Sousa

Toronto Potters

Taking visual inspiration from animal exoskeletons and the process of moulting, this body of my work explores the concepts of home, migration and memory. As an immigrant, space and time create distance from the idea of ‘home’. But the memories, much like the shells of exoskeletons hold tremendous beauty.
‘Exuvia’ is one of my medium sized explorations which was hand built using stoneware clay. It is meant to be a stand-alone sculpture.
