Sarah Ammons is a visual artist, designer and student of philosophy. Her paintings use observational drawing combined with silkscreen-like painting in gouache and oil to link figure, object and pattern in obscure narratives. Her paintings contemplate the relationships we have with ourselves and our environments, often masking a sense of mania, uncertainty or emptiness with a pleasant pastel colour palette.

Sarah received her BFA at Queen’s University graduating in 2012 with honours. She moved on to study painting at the San Francisco Art Institute, and received her MFA in 2014. During her time at SFAI, Sarah received a Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary art award, as well as the Graduate Fellowship Award from the Headlands Center for the Arts, in Sausalito, CA. Sarah is active in exhibiting her work, has participated in residencies, and has been published in both the United States and Canada. She is currently working out of her studio in Healdsburg, CA.
