Canadian abstract painter Ricki Oltean is a graduate from the University of Waterloo with a BFA Honours, 2004. Upon graduating she was awarded the BMO 1st Art award for Ontario. Her work can be found in private collections in Canada, the United States and beyond.

The blank canvas reveals the possibility of the infinite. Colours speak, forms emerge, relationships to sound, movement, space unfold through give and take, observing and responding.
A moment in time, played out, mark by mark, sounds in the background make their way as movement of colours, gestures. A pause, a noticing as one stroke informs another. An action of adding, covering up, layering. The black and white, cuts through the building of image until all is in balance, harmony within chaos
