Patricia Taylor painted portraits in oil in her adolescence and returned to paint again much later in life. Her travels abroad inspired her to add landscapes to her practice, in both acrylic and oil. They reveal her love of minimalism and a desire to create calm and reflective works as an escape from a complicated and sometimes chaotic world. Her aim is to have the observer step into that peaceful and serene scape she has created. She has no formal training and has shown at the TOAF 2019/20, Art Gallery of Hamilton 2018/20, Rosedale Art Fair, McMichael show and sale, Riverdale Art Walk, all juried.

Shape, colour and composition interest me. I would describe my landscapes as abstract impressionism. When using acrylics, multiple layers of colour give the illusion of oil and add depth and interest. Often, the work develops in ways I didn’t expect. It’s a journey which brings me joy and sometimes frustration but is never boring.

Custom work accepted: portraits & landscapes.
