03. Match Stick Evergreen Tree

Micah Adams

Although initially conceived as a curious material study, building these match head trees has become a serious reflection on the precarious state of global forests today.

When I noticed regular kitchen matches in the U.S. are green (not red, like in Canada), I instantly imagined these match heads shifting scale to become blooms of foliage. By gluing many match heads together into cone-like structures I transformed them into typical representations of evergreen trees.
