Born in Toronto, Kylie currently lives and works in the Eastern Townships of Québec. She completed a BFA at Concordia University including studies in Nîmes, France. Her work can be found in private collections internationally.
A walk in the woods is the best medicine. The oil paintings I create are about the landscape, the colours, the light, the feeling of being immersed in nature and the good it does for the soul. I want to bring the life of the outside world, inside. My process is to wander in forests, photograph what inspires me, break down the image into its simple forms with oil paint, then build up to create landscape that is delightful and intimate. With the use of traditional oil painting techniques, Kylie selects close-up points of view to lend to a sense of “being there” with nature, for nurture. Each painting is an expression of harmony and order after disassembling and reassembling what is seen and experienced on those walks.
