Hamilton
Throughout her work Julia focuses on examining the human condition by challenging eurocentric notions of identity. Playful and disarming, her dioramas explore the ramifications of defining ourselves by what we are not, and highlight how this perspective shapes our individual notions of self as well as how we view our relationship with the natural world. The work asks the viewer to question what makes us human, what distinguishes us and more importantly why do we insist on being distinguished.
