Brampton
Jasmine Canaviri is an installation-based artist operating west-bound of the GTA. Within her practice, Canaviri primarily works in the field of sculpture, sound, and video. Her work often uses text or words rooted within the realm of socio-politics in the areas of violence, feminism, gender, sexuality, and memory. She often expands upon a personal experience within these realms and magnifies it across a larger audience. As a self-described “multimedia artist”, Canaviri does not have one preferred medium or range of techniques. Her current sculptural works explore and critique a range of political, social and religious ideologies through the use of text, casting and found objects. Her sound and video works explores similar themes that physically presents herself engaging with the audience.
