Daniel Cardoso is an emerging Printmaking artist based in Toronto, with a BFA 2020 from OCAD University. Having a strong Portuguese heritage, and being a Queer person has affected his life in a multitude of ways. He uses his art to create visual narratives and iconographies within patterned print work as a means of disseminating past traumas. The use of patterning comes from a strong connection to Portuguese tile work (“Azulejos”), and how those traditional narratives fit into his life in a Canadian context. Growing up surrounded by patterns of blues, yellows, greens, and reds, Daniel's goal is to bring these beautiful patterns into contemporary art - specifically in print.
