In her Broken Earth series, Cristina Getson uses vibrant colours to evoke abstract landscapes. Influenced by the pull of opposites - smooth and rough, light and dark, indefinite and detailed - these paintings become a dialogue between nature and the self. The application of paint is made visible through the brushstrokes and marks left behind; it is a joyful revelling in the materiality of the paint itself.
