Christine Hirtescu is a Representational Artist from Toronto, specializing in oil painting with palette knife. She has studied at the UofT, George Brown College and OCADU. After working 17 years as an admin assistant in healthcare she started to work full time as an artist in 2019. Her background in Art History has informed a lot of her work and her attention to design, looking to a diverse collective of artists from Group of Seven to Richard Diebenkorn to Ed Kienholz for inspiration. She is fascinated by texture and geometric forms and often uses urban landscape as a backdrop for exploring these qualities. She's also attracted to intimate images, enjoying to draw out the beauty from regularly overlooked scenes.
