Whether you’re a first-time buyer or already an avid collector, this conversation will shine a light on when they started investing in art, how they chose some of their favourite pieces, how to cultivate your own personal curatorial style, and why collecting is just plain fun.

Closer to You

Closer to You, a piece created by Jillian Jerat, a recent OCAD U Material Art & Design graduate, represents the importance of human connection in a world that is addicted to constantly being plugged in. What do we lose when life becomes digital? Are our basic human needs being sacrificed for convenience without us even realizing it?

A two-headed sweater forces interaction; it creates a spontaneous moment between a pair of individuals, hopefully encouraging them to immerse themselves in the present - and turn away from their screens.

Jillian Jerat's work revolves around the use of colour and its ability to transform, disrupt and enliven its surroundings.
